A History of BWC
Brookfield West was planned and developed in 1970 by Howard Chatham, centered around a Joe Lee-designed golf course. The neighborhood quickly became one of Atlanta’s premier country club communities, attracting golf enthusiasts from across the country.

As the community grew, so did the desire for a women’s social group. In 1975, the Brookfield West Women’s Club was founded, with Dagmar Weisenburg serving as its first president. What began as a group of 50 women coming together to build friendships within the Brookfield neighborhood has since grown into a vibrant and welcoming organization.
While our roots are in Brookfield, our reach has expanded—we now warmly welcome members from Brookfield and the surrounding communities. The mission of the Brookfield Women’s Club remains unchanged: to foster friendship and connection among women in the Brookfield Country Club area and beyond.
